Podkraj cemetery in Velenje with a new electric vehicle

From today, Podkraj cemetery in Velenje will use a homologated electric vehicle, which will also be registered for road use.

Today at Podkraj cemetery in Velenje, the mayors of the Municipality of Velenje, Bojan Kontič, and the Municipality of Šoštanj, Darko Menih, handed over a new electric vehicle that will carry older or disabled people at funeral ceremonies, as well as wreaths and urns. It is the first electric vehicle of its kind at the Velenje cemetery.

This ecological funeral electric vehicle is suitable for moving along the narrow cemetery paths in all weather conditions. It will mainly help deliver (transport) equipment for grave tenants during spring and autumn grave maintenance, mowing and other maintenance work at the cemetery. Using the electric vehicle will also limit unauthorised journeys by private cars around the cemetery (mainly by older people), which considerably damage the footpaths within the cemetery.

The Municipality of Velenje and the Municipality of Šoštanj have thus enabled all visitors to Podkraj cemetery to use an ecological electric vehicle. It is the Italcar NEV L4C.4. model, with 4 seats and a cargo area. It is powered by a 5,5 Kw electric motor and 8 lead-acid batteries with a range of up to 80 km.
